Instagram is without a doubt one of the most effective social media channels for many retail brands out there, as it provides the opportunity for retailers to showcase their products, celebrity models and ambassadors, and to show an access all areas look into the life behind the brand.

If you’re a retailer and would like some tips for how you can get the most out of your company Instagram page, we’re here to help. Feel free to add yours in the comments section!

Establish a tone for your images

Instagram is all about the aesthetic, thanks to it being such a visual platform. So this means you’ll need to take into account not only how your actual photos look, but how they all work together to build up a feed. You’ll need to create a strong, visual tone of voice for your feed that people will start to recognise and associate with you and your products so that followers start to identify with who you are and what you do. This will come into play with things like filters, form of images (such as flat lays, etc.) and general subject of the images.

Invest in some high quality imagery

As mentioned above, your Instagram will only be as good as your images and tone is. Instead of snapping away casually as you would with a personal account, you’ll need to take a step back and carefully consider the quality of each and every image you put up. Investing in someone who can take great photos will really help your brand image.

Show sneak peeks of your upcoming products

A great way to reward your Instagram followers is to give them content that they won’t get anywhere else. A good example of this is to show sneak peeks of upcoming products, so that your Instagram followers are the first to know about things you’re working on, and things that they can expect from you. You can also ask their opinion to show you care about what they think, and value their feedback.

Host appealing giveaways

Giveaways are another great way retailers can use Instagram. Posting an attractive photo of a really great prize, requesting users either regram, like or comment (or all three) to be in with a chance of winning is a great way of increasing your following and engagement, as well as rewarding your followers.

Work with top, relevant social media influencers

Instagram is a platform that is being used more and more by fashion bloggers, and smart retail brands are taking advantage of this by forming strong relationships with some of the most relevant to their brand. These relationships can be really beneficial to both parties, and can result in some great content for both of you to post on your feeds, whilst referencing to each other.
